Bronxville Athletes Earn National Track Honors

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville High School athletes competed at the New Balance Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C., last weekend, and several achieved notable honors at the national event.

The 4 X 800 meter relay team finished in eighth place, their best finish of the season, and had the eighth best time in Westchester County history at 9:08.61. The team of Courtney Campbell, Hilary Rizzo, Emilie Hoffer and Meredith Rizzo finished with the top time in Section 1 and the third-best time in New York State. The team was 1.3 seconds off the podium and All-American status.

Hilary Rizzo and Hoffer set personal bests with times of 2:18.8 and 2:18.1, respectively.

In the 1 mile racewalk event, Caroline Muir finished fifth with a time of 7:56.94, a personal best and a new Bronxville High School record. She set the record previously at Somers on May 4 with a time of 8:15.8. Muir had the second best time in Section 1 and the fifth all-time in Westchester County.

Muir also received All-American honors, the first racewalker in Bronxville history to do so.

Campbell, Hoffer, Meredith Rizzo and Delia Hayes finished in 11th place in the 4 X 1-mile relay with a time of 21:42.11.
