Students would like to keep their studio just as busy by inviting outside talent to use their services, said TV/Video Production Program instructor Tony Ely.
Principal Jim Matera said he is excited the studio has become such a popular venue for outside groups: “The intention is that it will serve not only as a place where our students will get valuable industry experience, but it will also put us on the map in terms of cutting edge A/V technology. And anytime we have the chance to share our equipment and expertise with the community and the districts we serve, we welcome it.”
For the past two months, students have been working with Jay, who is also a film producer, actor, clothing line creator and financier. He has been using the state-of-the-art studio and the talents of the BOCES students to promote his newly created shows, “A Dynamic Conversation with Mikey Jay,” “Da Now Magazine” and “Dynamically Speaking from One Youth to Another.”
All three shows will deal with issues that are of interest to both students and the general public. Jay’s intention is to spread his message of peace, unity, solidarity and communication, a theme that has dominated his music tours and the philanthropic work that he does.
“What’s really dynamic about this show is, it’s not about us; it’s really about them,” said Ely.
All of the shows, he explained, are produced by the students, with very little assistance from him.
