Proposed Bronxville Schools Budget Comes In Under Tax Cap

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The Bronxville Board of Education has introduced its first proposed schools budget of the season, which comes in under the tax levy cap of 1.36 percent.

Superintendent David Quattrone has proposed a $46.55 million budget, representing just a .71 percent ($327,036) increase over last year’s spending plan, which includes several new teaching positions as enrollment at the high school is projected to increase from 500 to 599 students over the next four years.

The proposed budget includes allowances for an additional fourth grade teacher, a science and math teacher for upperclassmen, director of instructional technology as the district continues its technology initiative and a part-time auditorium coordinator.

The director of instruction technology will be tasked with “developing evaluation for criteria for classroom uses of technology, coordinating technology professional development and overseeing student information systems,” among other responsibilities.

The proposed budget – which is approximately $300,000 less expensive than the initial spending plan offered late last year – represents an estimated tax levy increase of 1.35 percent.

There will be public hearings about the budget on Saturday, March 7 and Thursday, March 19.
