BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Westchester End-of-Life Coalition is hosting a panel discussion at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville about the controversial euthanasia process.

A panel of four experts will discuss and answer questions about the 1994 Oregon “Death with Dignity” Act, which legalized physician-assisted dying from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. on Thursday at the Donnelley Auditorium.

The legislation was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2006. The panel will talk about what the act has meant, how it has been implemented in Oregon and the other states that have legalized the process and what the experience is like for patients and physicians.

Panelists include Judith Schwarz, a registered nurse who works as a clinical coordinator for Compassion and Choices of New York; Kerrianne Page, the senior vice president and medical director for the Good Shepherd Hospice on Long Island; Howard Grossman, an internist with a specialty in HIV and AIDS, and Maura Del Bene, an associate director at Palliative Medicine.

The moderator for the discussion will be Bruce Jennings, a member of the Board of Directors at the End-of-Life Coalition.

Preceding the event, there will be a screening from 5 to 6:45 p.m. of the award-winning film “How to Die in Oregon.” There is limited seating available for the event. To register, call (914) 395-2412 or e-mail
