BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College Athletics Department is the recipient of a Citation of Merit from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).
During the academic year, Concordia raised nearly $2,000 that was donated to MSKCC. The recognition is an acknowledgement of the university’s contributions to the center.
According to Jacquelyn Ward, from Memorial Sloan-Kettering, more than $4 million was raised last year in various fundraisers held around the country.
The athletic department was celebrated at the annual Donor Recognition Reception that was held earlier this month. Athletic Director Ivan Marquez said that it’s a small step forward in the fight against cancer, and the department hopes to raise even more money next year.
“We are very humbled that we could help out in contributing towards this important cause,” he said. “[The athletics department] is fully committed to it until we find a cure for cancer.
