VALHALLA, N.Y. -- For area residents looking to learn something new for a good cause, Westchester Community College is hosting its Celebrity Salon Series. Now in its 22nd season, the series welcomes experts from an array of fields into private homes to talk about their experiences.

"The goal of these salons is to build awareness of the wonderful programs and activities that WCC offers-many of which are unheard of at the community college level," said Susan Yubas the President of the Westchester Community College Foundation.

Yubas has been a member of the Celebrity Salons planning committee for five years and this year marks her third year of chairing the series. "It has been a lot of fun," she said. "We try to invite speakers who appeal to a broad range of interest and ages."

What is unique about the series is that they are held in relatively intimate settings - private homes throughout the County - with speakers who are experts in their fields of entertainment, business, food and wine, home, art and music, literature, media, politics, sports and education.Guests also have the opportunity to meet and speak with students who have been recipients of scholarship funds so they can see firsthand the impact that their dollars have. This year's series includes national figures from the fields of literature, media, politics, sports, and music. As the first series of its kind in Westchester County, these events continue to attract top names who help the Westchester Community College Foundation raise funds for student scholarships.

"One hundred percent of all funds we raise go directly to the Foundation’s Scholarship and Program Fund," said Yubas. For each of the last seven years, the Foundation has awarded over $1 million in student scholarships transforming the lives of students who otherwise would not be able to attend college or who need a jump start.

The series runs from April to June and for a complete list of topics see, the attached flyer below.
