Weinand, who received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Concordia, has more than 25 years experience in various commercial operative and strategic roles in the pharmaceutical industry. He also has a master’s degree in pharmacology/toxicology from Long Island University. He is a member of the Bayer HealthCare executive committee and is responsible for the pharmaceuticals division.

During his career, Weinand has been responsible for various markets, including Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the United States at companies including Pfizer and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He has also overseen the marketing of products in different therapeutic areas, such as cardiology, oncology, dermatology, immunology, pulmonology and inflammation. Before joining Bayer HealthCare, he was president of global commercialization and portfolio management at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization Inc.
Weinand is a member of the board of directors of HealthPrize Inc., the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations. He also is a member of the health technology advisory board of the IBM Corporation.
