Nearly 150 teachers from the Bronxville and Tuckahoe Middle and High Schools came together to exchange ideas and practices about integrating technology in the classroom, an initiative that has been ongoing in both districts since last year.
In Bronxville, Superintendent David Quattrone has laid out a plan with John Krouskoff, a BOCES consultant, to transition the district away from the more traditional “labs” structure, and will instead provide classroom carts of devices district wide.
As part of the Tuckahoe School District’s “Technology for All” initiative, nearly every classroom in the district will be equipped with Google Chromebooks, and they have transitioned to a digital notification platform that makes it easier to disseminate messages and emergency notifications.
“This is a highly productive session of teachers learning from teachers,” Tuckahoe Superintendent Barbara Nuzzi said.
The meeting, which was facilitated by BOCES Google Certified trainers, provided a forum for the teachers to share how they’ve implemented the new technology in the classroom. Those present demonstrated lessons, shared techniques and discussed the various uses of the technology.
“We look forward to having teachers collaborate and share with one another,” Bronxville High School Principal Ann Meyer added. “They are each other’s best resource when it comes to new technology. We hope this begins an ongoing dialogue around best practices and innovative instruction.”
