The Bronxville School Foundation was founded more than two decades ago by a cadre of parents who sought to improve education. Each year, its members raise money and issue grants to improve each of the district’s three schools.
Last year, the foundation was instrumental in kick starting the district’s technology initiative, awarding nearly $575,000 in grants, including all of the new hardware, teacher training, guest lecturers and professional development to upgrade the curriculum.
In addition to the technology grants, the foundation was also crucially important to the recently completed concession stand and bathrooms at the Bronco track and turf field.
The bulk of the foundation’s funding comes during the fall campaign, which concludes with the spring grant process when the community can see the fruits of its labor.
“Due to the Bronxville community’s commitment to excellence in education and the generosity of our donors, the foundation is able to pilot innovative programs, support teacher development and provide state-of-the-art technology and enhancements to our schools,” Ashley Hanrahan, the chairman of the board, said.
In total, since it was established in 1991, the foundation has raised more than $7 million.
“The foundation relies almost exclusively on its fall campaign for money,” Vice President of Development Christine Fitzgibbons said. “In order for the Foundation to continue to award grants at this level, it is critical that we increase our annual fundraising effort. School families and community members along with corporate matching sponsors are the key to our success.”
