BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Bronxville School Foundation, which awards grants to aid local school districts each year, is continuing its fall fund-raising campaign to boost the education experience for students.

The group was founded in 1991 by a group of citizens who sought to improve education. Last year, they awarded nearly $700,000 in grants to schools for a variety of projects, all without impacting taxpayers.

Programs that the Bronxville School Foundation entered into last year include a partnership with Long Island University for student internships, teacher training workshop and eco-friendly water bottle filling stations. They also supplemented costs involved with the renovation of Chambers Field, which includes a new concession stand, renovated bathrooms, new stands and a press box.

The foundation has awarded more than $6 million in its 22 years.

Christine Fitzgibbons, the chairman of the foundation, said that the bulk of the grant money donated is collected during the fall campaign. Families, corporate sponsors and matching sponsors are all key to the fundraiser.

“The Bronxville community’s commitment to excellence in education helps the Foundation connect to students and faculty with innovative program and new technologies,” she said.

Fundraising will continue through the fall, before the spring grant process begins, but the bulk of the monies that the Foundation will utilize this year will be collected in the coming months.

“It is a the community’s tradition of generosity and commitment to quality education that allows us to connect with each student and make a meaningful difference,” Executive Director Peggy Williams said.

Donations can be made online, or by contacting Williams at 914-395-0515.
