At the final Board of Education meeting of the year, High School Principal Ann Meyer announced that three classrooms in the school would be outfitted and redesigned to emphasize collaborative learning, rather than the traditional lecture-style formats.
The plans for the innovative classrooms were born after a series of faculty visits to similar locations, including the I-Lab at Horace Greeley High School and Avenues and Google offices in Manhattan. Faculty members tasked with completing the project have been meeting with a design firm, Fielding Nair, and are currently participating in ongoing professional development in an effort to maximize the potential of the reconfigured classrooms.
Bolstered by grants from the Bronxville Schools Foundation, the “redesigned classrooms reflect an interest in moving away from lecture formats toward more diverse, student-directed learning experiences,” according to Superintendent David Quattrone.
