Louis DiGiaimo, 77, Oakland Producer, Casting Director

OAKLAND, N. J. -- Louis DiGiaimo, Oakland resident and Emmy Award-winning casting director and producer in New York City, died Dec. 19. He was 77.

A graduate of Fairleigh Dickerson University, he was a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences. 

Based in New York City, DiGiaimo worked on more than 100 movies and television shows, including "The Godfather," "Rain Main," "Thelma and Louise," and "Gladiator." Also, he was the producer on "Donnie Brasco" and "Dinner Rush." 

Born in Paterson, he was the son of the late Angelina and Giuseppe DiGiaimo. Survivors include Lee, his wife of 53 years; and children Luann McGonigle and husband, Brian; and Louis J. DiGiaimo and wife, Susan.

He's also survived by grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Krista, Matthew, Thomas and Julianne; brother Paul DiGiaimo; and sister-in-law Janina Mele..

Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Monday, at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland.

A funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 117 Franklin Ave., Oakland.
