Patrick J. Brown, 88, Of Mohegan Lake

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. — Patrick J. Brown, of Mohegan Lake, died March 7, He was 88.

Brown was born March 17, 1924, in the Bronx, to Michael and Honora (Murray) Brown, both from county Mayo, Ireland.

He graduated from LaSalle Academy, and served as a lieutenant tank commander in the United States Army during World War II.

After the war, he graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in biology. He earned his master's degree in biology from Columbia University.

For 35 years, Brown was employed by Wyeth Laboratories as a district sales manager, until he retired in 1986.

He served as town councilman and police commissioner in the town of New Castle, president of the New Castle Dad's Club, coached the Princeton Tigers in the New Castle Ivy League football program, and was voted Father of the Year in 1962.

Brown is survived by his children, Patrick, Barbara O'Neill, Stephen, Colette Goodman, Claudia Schaus, and Laura Collins; and 17 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Claire; his children Michael and Christine; brothers John and Thomas; a sister, Theresa; and his brother-in-law, John Bolger.

Calling hours are Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of Saint John and Saint Mary's in Chappaqua on Monday, March 11, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
