Yorktown Schools Collaborate To Raise Money For Breast Cancer Awareness

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Lakeland High School and Shrub Oak Athletic Club join forces on Friday, Sept. 12 at the 4th Annual "Tackles for a Cure" football game.

The LHS varsity football team will take on Hendrick Hudson High School that evening. The "Tackles for a Cure" is aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and research. Players will wear pink jerseys donated by local businesses. The stands will be filled with more than 1,600 black and pink T-shirts sold to raise money. There will also be pink hair extensions and items donated by the NY Giants and NY Jets. The SOAC football program will be introduced at halftime. Lakeland and SOAC cheer will perform together after that.

All money collected from the event is donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
