Madolin Davies, 96, Lifelong Katonah Resident

KATONAH, N.Y. – Madolin Clark Davies, a lifelong resident of Katonah, died June 10. She was 96.

Born Feb., 24, 1916, she was the daughter of Fredrick Stephen Clark and Ethel May Clark. Davies never retired, as she was a homemaker, caretaker and mother. She graduated from Katonah High School in 1933. She briefly attended nursing school in Grasslands but she chose instead to stay in Katonah.

Davies was the oldest surviving member of the First Presbyterian Church of Katonah. The church was a constant throughout her life. She was married there in 1941. In her earlier years, she was active in the church rummage sale and the “Pres Notes” church publication.

She enjoyed liberal politics and had a "child-like love" of sweets. A voracious reader, Bedford Hills Public Library provided her home delivery of hundreds of books over the last few years.

Davies is survived by two daughters, Linda Davies, of Mount Kisco and Denise Davies Tedaldi of Danvers, Mass.; three sons, Richard Davies, of Bedford, Philip Davies, of Bedford and Stephen Davies, of Garnerville, N.Y. and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Daniel Davies and a granddaughter, Traci Elizabeth Tedaldi.

A private burial will be held Wednesday at Bedford Union Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah is handling arrangements.
