BRONXVILLE, N.Y. Six stately Bronxville homes will open their doors to the public May 11 for a tour and shopping opportunity to benefit the Bronxville Junior League.
It is a fantastic event that allows our members and surrounding communities to shop and get a head start for Mothers Day while seeing some of the beautiful homes in Bronxville, said Ashley Prymas, vice president of communications for the Bronxville Junior League.
Dubbed "Trails to Treasures," the signature fundraising event will allow visitors to tour the as-yet undisclosed homes and shop from vendors who set up their offerings inside. It is the fifth such event the group has had and will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. following a 9 a.m. kickoff champagne reception at the Bronxville Field Club at 40 Locust Lane, Prymas said. The cost is $50.
Its always a fun question as to what houses will be showcased this year and always difficult to guess, she said, while hinting at least three houses will be walkable after parking nearby.
A list of the homes and vendors will be revealed at the reception.
New to the benefit will be companies that provide fair-trade goods, including one that will offer totes made by women in Africa from burlap rice bags, Prymas said.
Our mission is women helping the community and this is an outreach to a global perspective as these women are similarly helping their own communities with these products, Prymas said.
Jewelry and items for children and the home also will be featured, she added.
Last years event drew almost 400 attendees. It is limited to adults and children over 12 years of age as a courtesy to the homeowners, Prymas said.
We could not do this successful event without the generosity of owners willing to donate their house for the day, she said.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Bronxville Junior Leagues outreach programs and projects that are focused on alleviating hunger and improving nutrition in Southern Westchester. Advance tickets can be purchased at jlbronxville.org or on the day of the event at the Bronxville Field Club.
