WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – New York State Assembly member Amy Paulin will serve her seventh term in the 88th District after running unopposed in Tuesday’s election.

The district includes Scarsdale, Eastchester, Bronxville, Pelham and parts of New Rochelle and White Plains.

"Although I was running unopposed, I still wanted to earn the respect of voters so I campaigned, reached out and made as many appearances as I could," Paulin said from Vintage in White Plains, where she was watching returns with the Buchwald campaign. "I wanted to show a deep concern for voters and, while it was less stressful, I was still out there."

Paulin – who holds the Democratic, Independent and Working Family lines – has been a member of the New York State Assembly for 12 years. During her next two-year term, she hopes to lower taxes, create more jobs and bolster education, she said.

The longtime Scarsdale resident has been a representative for the 88th District; 138 of the bills she proposed have become law, and she is among the top 3 percent of legislators who have successfully passed bills during her tenure. She has helped toughen penalties for the sale and possession of legal firearms and negotiated the first law making human trafficking a felony.

“Helping people and working to ensure the integrity of government is why I ran in the first place, and it is why I am running again now,” Paulin said in the run-up to the election. “I have earned a reputation as one of the hardest working, bipartisan, principled and persistent legislators.”
