WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Political seats aren't the only thing on the ballot on Election Day this year. Six new propositions, including one that could bring traditional casino-style gambling to New York, are also up for approval, according to theexaminernews.com.
If approved, proposal one would allow up to seven casinos to be built within the state in the hopes of giving tourism and job growth a shot in the arm. Four of the casinos would be built north of Westchester county. New York City, Westchester and Long Island can only apply for the final three, according to theexaminernews.com.
Other propositions on the ballot include raising the maximum age of state judges to 80; and land swap proposals for the Adirondack Region, theexaminernews.com reported.
