Bronxville Village Candidates Once Again Unopposed

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – A trio of Bronxville candidates will run unopposed next week when voters head to the polls to cast their vote in the annual village election.

Incumbent Republican Mayor Mary Marvin and Trustee Robert Underhill will be joined on the ticket for the first time by Randolph Mayer. He was chosen to fill the unexpired term of former Trustee Donald Gray, who unexpectedly retired earlier this year.

Mayer, 61, will run on the Bronxville Citizens for Responsible Government line, citing a desire to maintain neutrality and party independence. A former planning board member, Mayer’s former seat remains vacant.

Each of the candidates will serve two-year terms. They will join Trustees Anne Poorman and Guy Longobardo, whose terms end next year. It’s been nearly a decade since a Democrat challenged the all-Republican Board, with the last failed attempt coming in 2006.

According to the village of Bronxville’s official website,” The Board consists of a Mayor and four Trustees. The Mayor is the chief executive of the village and is responsible for the conduct of public meetings and certain appointments. The Mayor and Trustees all have one equal vote for the adoption of resolutions.”

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at Village Hall.
