Wanted Man With Four Suspensions On His License Busted In Scarsdale

A wanted Westchester County man with multiple suspensions on his license was busted by police in Scarsdale after being caught speeding in the village over the weekend.

An officer on patrol in Scarsdale stopped New Rochelle resident Paul Stewart, 49, on Post Road when he was spotted driving a 2015 BMW 135i more than 50 mph, above the posted speed limit on the roadway.

During the stop, officers spoke with Stewart, who provided a Connecticut driver’s license and was unable to provide a registration for the car, which he told police was recently registered and no card was available yet.

According to police, checks of Stewart’s driver’s license and license plate determined that he had four suspensions on his license, to which he claimed no knowledge of.

The license suspensions included two in Manhattan for failure to answer a summons and failure to pay fines in court. The other suspensions were in Harrison for a failure to answer a summons and failure to pay for driver responsibility assessment, according to police.

Following the check, Stewart was arrested at the scene and charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle with three or more suspensions. He was also cited for speeding.

Stewart was arraigned in Scarsdale Village Court his vehicle was impounded. Following arraignment, Stewart was released on $100 bail and released to a third party. Stewart is due to back in court on April 18 to answer the charges.
