According to the police report, officers were dispatched to an Aspen Road home shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday after a burglary alarm in the master bedroom was activated when a window went ajar.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found that two lights were on in the vacant house, in an office and additional bedroom. There was a window screen lying in the grass, a few feet from the open window. Additionally, a rear patio door was broken off its frame.

In the report, it is noted that police found two fresh footprints located in the dirt outside the master bedroom window in the rear of the house.

“The front portion of the footprints were directed toward the open window, which was one of three windows in sequence, which was left unlocked,” Officer Ronnie Arefieg said in his statement. “It is in this officer’s opinion that the point of entry was the unlocked master bedroom window, and the point of exit was the rear patio door.

Once clearing the house, it was discovered that the master bedroom was ransacked, with several empty jewelry boxes scattered on the floor. An office and second bedroom were “slightly tossed.” No other rooms in the residence were disturbed.

Scarsdale police are continuing their investigation into the burglary, which includes video from an outdoor surveillance camera.
