BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville police are still looking for a man they say exposed himself to two teenage girls on Masterson Road on Friday.
While Friday's flash was the only incident reported by police, members of the community believe others have gone unreported.
“Talking to neighbors, moms and dads of other children that go to school with my daughter, kids experience stuff like this and never say anything,” said Kyla Janowski of Bronxville. “Talk to your kids and you’ll find out this happens more often than you may think. But parents sometimes don’t ask the simple question, ‘did anything happen to today that I should know about?’”
Janowski added that any time a child comes home from school, a play date with friends or a trip to the library, the question should always be asked. As for this incident, Janowski said, “I wouldn’t let my kid walk through any neighborhood without an adult. Maybe this doesn’t happen if these kids were with one.”
Craig Robbens, 57, of Bronxville, agrees. “These days nothing surprises me,” he said. “It’s not safe without having a parent or a trusted adult to take you from place to place. You just never know what kind of sick person is out there.”
Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale sent out a neighborhood e-alert asking residents to be on the lookout for a silver, four-door Honda or Acura with a light gray interior and blue with yellow license plates. The e-alert also described the suspect as a short and skinny white man believed to be in his late 20s. He has short brown hair and dark eyes.
“Give credit to our police force for making us all aware,” said Agatha DeLaio. “I don’t think this person will get caught, but at least we know what to look out for. It’s a shame we live in such a great community and now we have to be alert for someone doing something perverted. What’s worse is this person may want to do something more and maybe cause harm to young girls.”
Police are asking anyone with information to contact department headquarters at 914-337-0500.
