It is alleged that Ciampanelli failed to pay the taxes of his client, John Nardini Construction, instead of collecting and using the tax money for personal benefit between Dec. 14, 2010 and Feb. 13, 2012.

According to DiFiore, the owners of the construction company claim that rather than pay the Internal Revenue Service or the state Tax Department directly, Ciampanelli instructed them to provide him with checks made to either himself or LMC Tax Consultants. The defendant told the victims that he would then make payments on their behalf.

In all, Ciampanelli stole approximately $47,000, never paying personal or business taxes to the victims, DiFiore said.

Ciampanelli was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned in Eastchester Court, where bail was set at $5,000 or $15,000 bond. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison.

The case was adjourned until June 12 and the investigation into the larceny is continuing. Any other potential victims are advised to contact the District Attorney’s Office.
