Police were notified of a shoplifter at J. McLaughlin on Wednesday, Nov. 7 when the store manager witnessed Mount Vernon resident Syiesha Jackson walking out of the store with merchandise valued at $948.

The manager of the store reported the theft, and a second witness was able to provide police with the license plate number of the getaway vehicle.

The investigation led detectives to Yonkers, police said, where they found Jackson driving, with the stolen goods still in the vehicle. She was subsequently arrested and charged with petit larceny.

Following her arraignment, Jackson was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in Bronxville Village Court later this year to answer the charge.
