Bronxville Cops: Man Held On Check Fraud, Drug Charges

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – A Yonkers man was arrested Friday and accused of trying to cash a fake check and being in possession of heroin and Xanax pills, Bronxville police said.

Michael Ruggerio, 27, was accused of trying to cash a fraudulent check for $2,500 at the Capital One Bank on Parkway Road at 10:20 a.m., police said. The bank called the police because of suspicions the check was fake. After being arrested, police said they found eight packets of heroin and nine Xanax pills hidden on the suspect.

Ruggerio was charged with fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, a felony; criminal possession of a forged check, a misdemeanor; and third-degree criminal possession of controlled substances, a felony.

Ruggerio is being held in the Bronxville jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
