Services Set For Bronxville Native Parker Regan, 19

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Funeral services have been set for the Bronxville native killed in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, Aug. 3, in Montana. Parker MacVeigh Regan, of Mendham, N.J., and Amenia, N.Y., was 19 years old.

Regan was vacationing in Bozeman, Mont., with Bronxville resident James Welch and Welch's family at the time of the accident. According to a Montana State Trooper's affidavit, Welch was driving an ATV under the influence of alcohol with Regan onboard.

The affidavit alleges that Welch was driving on the wrong side of the road on the grounds of the Yellowstone Club when he took a hard turn, causing Regan to fall and receive fatal injuries. Regan and Welch were roommates at Suffield Academy in Connecticut before graduating this year.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Christ the King Church in New Vernon, N.J.

Born May 6, 1993, in Greenwich, Conn., Regan was raised in Bronxville and Mendham. He attended the Bronxville School, Winston School, Rumsey Hall School and Suffield Academy. At Suffield, he was an honors student, squash player and golfer, earning five varsity letters in his three-year tenure.

Regan was going to begin his freshman year at Gettysburg College later this month. Those who knew him described him as personable, cheerful and considerate. Charles Cahn III, Suffield's headmaster, said that Regan was a major success story at the school.

He was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed fly-fishing and scuba diving trips with family and friends. Above all, Regan enjoyed spending time with his family.

Regan's family said that while his life ended prematurely, "he was at one of his brightest moments, having enjoyed a wealth of rich experiences and accomplishments."

He is survived by his parents, R. Christopher and Leslie Conway Regan; a brother, Brendan C. Regan; and two sisters, Rebecca C. Regan and A. Tersey Regan, all of New York City; his grandmothers, Prudence S. Regan, of Watch Hill, R.I., and Phyllis T. Conway, of New Vernon, N.J., and 16 cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scenic Hudson Inc., One Civic Center Plaza, Suite 200, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601.

The family requests that favorite memories, photos or notes be submitted to Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
