Yonkers Repairs Tie Up Bronxville Roadway

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Traffic will remain snarled at one of the gateways into the village for most of January, Bronxville officials announced on Monday.

According to Bronxville Superintendent of Public Works Rocco Circosta, the City of Yonkers Engineering Department began a month-long sewer repair project located at the intersection of Palmer Road and Parkview Avenue.

Only one lane of East bound traffic will be allowed to pass through the construction site heading into the village. People heading out of Bronxville will have to find another way as westbound traffic will not be permitted. Drivers will be diverted via a series of detour signs, Circosta said.

Village Administrator Harold Porr said the repairs will have a serious impact on village businesses and residents who will have to endure the inevitable delays.

"It is one of the major entrances into the village,” Porr said. "It's going to be a hassle for everyone."

The detour will remain in effect 24-hours a day for the duration of the repair work, which is tentatively scheduled to be completed during the week of Jan. 23, Circosta said.
