TUCKAHOE, N.Y. When the members of the Tuckahoe Police Organization thought about who they could honor at their first annual dinner dance, the person that came to mind was David Pope, Executive Director of the Generoso Pope Foundation located in Depot Square.
"He is such a big part of our community," said TPO President Officer Andrew Zirolnik. "And he has done so much for our village."
Pope will be honored at a dinner dance held at the Bronxville Women's Club on Friday night beginning at 7 pm.
According to Lt. Peggy Belles, at least 135 people are expected to attend and more may buy tickets at the door.
"We have heard from village officials, town officials and school district officials who are coming out to honor David," Belles said.
Money raised at the event will be used to support TPO events and services such as the community Christmas party, and the Dare Program
"Basically, whatever donations we get will be given back to the community through our programs and events," Belles said.
Pope is a generous benefactor to the community, supporting such events as the annual fireworks display in July and handing out thousands of dollars in scholarships to Tuckahoe High School graduates.
"We couldn't think of a more deserving person than David Pope," Belles said.
