TUCKAHOE, N.Y. - There were cupcakes, stories and songs at the Eastchester Community Action Program holiday party on Saturday and that was before the big guy showed up.
The organization provides food to those in need every day of the year. There is also a clothing bank and an after school program for kids all free of charge to families in need. But Saturday there was shrieks of joy as Santa arrived with goodie bags filled with candy.
The event is organized and planned by Tuckahoe residents Natalie Faggianelli and her daughter Natalia. Six or seven years ago (Tuckahoe Police Lt.) Peggy Belles told me she was trying to put together a holiday party for kids here and I have been here ever since, Faggianelli said.
Faggianelli who is the manager of Gramatan Travel in Bronxville and Bayside Travel in Larchmont said that donating her time and effort to this worthy cause has a special meaning to her and her family.
These are my neighbors, she said. I want to the kids who are growing up here just like my kids did to have the very best of everything.
Krystle Negrons two kids Anaya, 5 and Angelo, 3 look forward to coming to the party. They were excited all day, could not wait to get here," Negron said. They love coming to the Cap.
ECAP Director Charlene Lambrecht said that she has been able to fill most of the wish lists she has received from residents.
People are more than welcome to drop off gifts or food contributions, Lambrecht said. I like to have a little extra for people who come in at the last minute.
