EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Eastchester Police Department gets to keep the trophy and bragging rights after their victory at the sixth annual Turkey Bowl. The finest topped the bravest by a 42-18 score at a touch football game held on Saturday afternoon at Haindl Field in Eastchester.
Fire Chief Michael Grogan said that he was proud of the effort made by the firefighters. "It was a well played game and at the end of the day we had a great time and no one had to be taken away by EVAC (Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps)," Grogan said.
Grogan said that special mention should go to firefighter Bobby Pintavalle who had two interceptions in the game. But police officer Dean Ghiozzi started the game withan 80 yard run for the first touchdown.
Officer Steve Dilegge also had four interceptions during the game, one of which netted him a touchdown. Police Lt. Jeff Hunter said the game builds camaraderie and the sense of community between the two departments. "It also works off some of that turkey dinner," Hunter said.
This is the fourth year in a row that the police beat out the firefighters. "We'll get them next year," said Grogan.
