EASTCHESTER, N.Y.-- She might be the only person in Eastchester who feels this way, but Rene Rifelli-John is loving all this hot weather .
"It's been great, we have been very happy with the heat," Rifelli-John said.
Rifelli-John, along with her husband Charles John and her sister-in-law Debbie Rifelli, opened Nuts about Yogurt on Mill Road in Eastchester in April.
Business has been good, she said, but this week business has been booming.
"We have been extremely busy," Rifelli-John said. "Everyone comes home from work, they want to get out of the house a little bit and they come here."
The store features frozen yogurt you can serve yourself. Rifelli-John said the staples, vanilla and chocolate, are always available. But she rotates such favorites as cookies and cream, watermelon and pistachio.
"We try to have something for everyone," Rifelli-John said. "We even have low-sugar strawberry."
Joseph Grogan,10, of Eastchester said his favorite topping for his frozen yogurt is marshmallows. "First I put all the chocolate like chips and then I top it off with the marshmallows," he said.
His sister, Laura, prefers the crushed cookies, Oreo and cookie dough.
Rifelli-John said there are about 25 different toppings. "Gummie Bears and cookie dough are the favorites, especially with the kids," she said.
There are also healthy choices, such as fresh fruit and nuts.
Rifelli-John, herself an Eastchester native, now living in Yonkers, said she wants to accommodate her customers."This is a community place, and if any of our customers have a request, we will do our best to fill it," she said.
