New Art Exhibit on Display at Concordia

RYE, N.Y. - Artwork from Harrison's own Danielle Riverso will be on display alongside the work of her classmates through January at Concordia College in Bronxville. The students, who attend the School of the Holy Child in Rye, were given awards of excellence at an opening reception for their exhibit.

Amanda Newberg is an art teacher at Holy Child and said the school and its surrounding community value the exhibit for featuring high school artwork. It's an experience she said young artists don't often get outside of their school's walls.

"The exhibit provides students with a forum for the community to see and appreciate their work," Newberg said. "It also gives them a chance to show their art outside of a school setting."

Riverso, a senior, will have her work displayed alongside classmates junior Melanie Patapis and senior Destini Beauregard through Jan. 29 at Concordia.

The artwork will be on display at the StArt '12 Regional High School Art Exhibition at Concordia's Osilas Gallery. The students' work is part of an annual exhibit that showcases art from different high school artists in Westchester.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., with Thursdays open until 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The School of the Holy Child is a Catholic college prep school for women in grades five through 12.
