Yeah. Repeal it so that the 100 millions remaining firearms are own illegally by bad people who would feel safe to break into homes of good law abiding people and rape them and kill them. Yeah.

Yes, Tim. I am a wacko for wanting to protect myself. Crazy, indeed.

Do some research into the historical implications of disarming the populace. Hitler did it. Mao did it. So did Stalin.

An armed citizenry is the greatest deterrent to tyranny and foreign occupation. The second amendment is the teeth to our Constitution. There is nothing wacko about that.

Unless, of course, you trust a government that murders thousands of men, women, and children a year in drone strikes overseas, and then lies about it. Our a government that openly sports ruthless dictators for its own devices. Where are the tears for the children of Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Yemen, and Afghanistan?

I'm very happy to be able to protect myself and my family, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with the honor. Given the nature of our history as a nation, it would be interesting to see what might happen should our corrupt and internationally owned government decide to relinquish the citizen's right to bear arms.

Oh dear, Godwin's law, already?

"Yes, Tim. I am a wacko"

And this is why our nation is losing its grip. Because people cannot respect the freedoms of others.

By the way, I'm neither Republican, Democrat, or an NRA member. I don't believe in belonging to clubs that support freedoms that are already unalienable.

Funny how Republicans never admit to being Republican ...I guess I could understand why you would be embarrassed to admitted this.

Interesting story that just turned up....

The blatant authoritarianism that is being displayed by what I thought was an educated Westchester constituency is beyond me. Have any of you read the constitution? Do any of you have the foggiest idea as to why the 2ND Amendment was established? Perhaps instead of marginalizing gun owners and criminalizing law abiding citizens out of FEAR, you should understand a thing or two about the right to protect oneself. I, for one, would rather rely on my own ability to pretext myself our those around me in the event of a heinous act rather than waiting for the calvary to arrive. The shooting yesterday occurred in under 15 minutes, and police arrived after the last bullet was fired. If the administration had been trained to combat the threat rather than hiding under desks, can we assume that less children might have been murdered? If you outlaw guns, only criminals will possess them. Prohibition never works. Not with alcohol. Not with drugs. And certainly not with guns. Quit being so flaccid and PC. The Founders knew what they were writing, and why.

Nothing in the constitution gives people the right to fire 100 bullets at a time. Are you saying the Founders had these assault weapons in mind when crafting the Constitution? Wake up.

Just a point of clarification, unless you are using a machine gun, such as a Gatling gun, or an AR-15, you can not fire 100 bullets at a time. The .223 rifle was in the car. I've not heard any reports that the .223 was used.

Pagie Maybe you should have someone read and explain to you

We can't stop them, but maybe we can not make it too easy.

I am law abiding and own guns. Just in case someone like the Chesire two come a calling. (Illeagal possesion of weapons, etc.)
All the folks who are involved in gun violence have some sort of mental problem. Those who use guns in a violent act are less then 1%. Just like we tolerate cars and busses and trucks, 50+ killed in Westchester a few years ago in bus crash, guns are not the issue just like cars and other vechiles are not the issue.

I don't believe that those who own guns are law abiding. If they were, what would they have to worry about that would need the protection of a gun?

Just Ignore Pagie as we all do..She/He/It is clearly a brainwashed right wing wacko. The wacko right wing Republicans aka the NRA are the ones to blame for these shooting as they continue to support the second amendment that was never ever intended for individual to have firearms.

You ask why someone who was law abiding might have a gun?

I was backed into cornered by someone at a funeral who became very, very aggressive. Forutnately for me, my girlfriend (the daughter of the deceased) saw it and sent her son over to defuse the situation.

One day after conducting a church workshop, I was confronted by someone who was furious because the Our Father had been recited as part of the program. She got in my face because there was a "survivor of domestic abuse" in the room. She would have taken a swing at me but others stepped in. Even though she was told to chill out, she confronted me again in the parking lot.

There was another incident when I simply asked someone a question and someone who was a "domestic violence survivor" became upset and started threatening me. Needless to say, I cut a very wide path around these people now.

Our family has received threatening phone calls from some people we barely know that have psychiatric problems. The police were interested enough to take copies of the answering machine messages, but they can't intervene until someone actually breaks the law. That means these people could actually come into our home, threaten us, possibly harm us and/or kill us and we would basically be at their mercy.

No thanks. I sincerely, sincerely hope and pray that I will never, ever have to look down the gun sights at a living, breathing human being. However, should that day come, I will fire.

WOW Pagie you seem to have a lot of issues with a lot of people..Did you ever stop and think that maybe just maybe it was because of your bad attitude .

No, Timmy, I don't have a bad attitude.

I see nothing offensive in saying the Lord's Prayer with a group of people who knew it part of the program and still chose to participate in the session. I'm sorry there was a "domestic abuse survivor" in the group, but why that gives someone the right to threaten me with physical violence is beyond me. I said nothing to this particular person, did nothing to them. That person chose to get in my face to the point where the police were almost called. Had it been left up to me, I would have called the police. But I was asked not to.

I see nothing offensive in asking someone what the source of their information was and then have another person interject herself (like you do) into the conversation and threaten me, once again, with physical violence.

There is nothing wrong with attending the funeral of a friend who is devastated by the loss of a parent. I'm sorry that someone took offense that I happen to be a different race than my friend and her family, but that's how the cookie crumbles. If it was a problem, just asking me politely to leave would have solved it rather than backing me into a corner and promising all kind of mayhem for me - AND MY FAMILY. Yeah, the person had been having a few drinks, but once again, that does not give them the right to make threats.

And I find it interesting that all you do on this board is call people names and announce how morally superior you are. We already know you hate the police, you hate guns, you hate Republicans, you pretty much hate anyone that isn't a clone of yourself. Must be hard getting up in the morning with so much luggage.

WOW Pagiee you seem to be describing yourself in reverse..
Thanks for the info

I don' believe that gun holders are law abiding. If they were, what would they have to worry about that needs a gun for protection.

Huh??? They are law abiding, but it does not mean they believe everyone else is law abiding.

My heart goes out to the families of the innocent victims of this atrocity.
May action against guns come forth as a result of this tragedy.

I agree completely. The County Center has a rule banning the sale of toys made in China there. But they allow a gun show??? Hello?? Our County Center should not be promoting this!

did the mother , who purchased these guns know that her son would kill her and then do this to these children and teachers? Hopefully she rots and burns in hell next to her son.

Such compassion. Such understanding.

Being a gun owner is not immoral. It is currently not illegal. Nor is it unethical.

You do know that he went to a gun shop and attempted to purchase a gun, but couldn't due to the waiting period, right? That indicates to me that he would have found a gun some way, some how. And the fact that he took multiple weapons seems to indicate he was going to continue his killing spree until he either killed everyone or ran out of ammo.

We also know that his mother had guns in the house that were purchased legaly that did the killing. Also as usual you are incorrect as he never went into a gun shop and attempted to purchase a gun. That was a rumor so get your story straight for a change and stop putting words in others mouths

Sorry, wrong news source. The article started on ABC but had a link to the L.A. Times. You know, that bastion of the vast right wing conspiracy. Here you go.,0,5913090.story

There's a reason I document my sources rather than posting hysteria rants, Timmy.

Apparently, you have a better source on what happened than ABC?

WOW Paige you have lost it today

What a terrible terrible thing to say.

Figures you would support anyone who is a gun owner..Gun owners are sickos

The Westchester County Center, a county taxpayer owned building, will be the location for the next gun show on February 2 and 3 2013 --according to north east gun

Shortly after the Columbine High School shootings--which took the lives of 14 students and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado former County Executive Andrew Spano banned gun shows from the county center--calling gun shows at government buildings "inappropriate".

After County Executive Rob Astorino defeated Mr. Spano - Mr. Astorino revoked the ban and allowed the gun shows to resume at the county center. When the gun shows were reinstated admission was $11- with $1.50 going to the county.

In light of the school shooting which killed 20 children and 7 adults in Sandy Hook, Connecticut on Friday - I am calling on the County Executive and Board of Legislators to ban gun and weapon shows from the county center. Citizens have a right to bear arms and a right to purchase guns from reputable dealers. But, there is nothing in the constitution that requires governments to allow gun sales at government buildings. If north east gun wants to have a gun show in Westchester - they should contract with a private facility, not a government owned building.

Among the weapons being sold at the gun show: firearms, knives, militaria military style weapons. An article in the June 20,2010 issue of the NY Daily News indicated that some vendors "sold books and magazines with nazi names. At least two sold stickers bearing confederate flags and swastikas." There haven't been additional reports since 2010 of nazi memorabilia being sold at the county center gun shows.

99% of the people who purchase guns at gun shows are honest, decent, law abiding citizens. All we need is one crazy like the school gunman whose family obtains a gun legally and starts shooting innocent people.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor

Good Idea.

I couldn't help but to shed a few tears as I looked at the ages of these children. I hope they are all together, with the adults in spirit

Schools need to have trained and armed citizen hall monitors. There needs to be a balance of force to deter this type of wanton violence. Our schools are shooting galleries for these types of psychos. Our children need to be instructed at an early age the dangers of gun violence - not by fear mongering and demonizing gun owners, but by gun safety education and ethics. As a father of a pre school aged boy, I think it's important to teach kids about the danger of mentally unstable people so they are aware of the appropriate force that is needed to deal with them, if and when something like this happens again. To some, this sounds unreasonable, but when will the madness end? When will we finally accept the responsibility of protecting our own?

WHY NOT ARM THE STUDENTS ALSO...It is because of you pro gun wackos that yesterdays tragedy happened

Agreed, sadly many will think & call your idea nuts, but its obvious that nothing short of the ability to stop this sort of thing will have much effect.

Are you for real???Many think and call your idea nuts..The Republican wackos and the NRA have blood on their hands

This causes me to think about our own children. Every time I enter the PR Elementary School to vote on the school budget I am concerned about the unrestricted access to the young students. It is time to restrict access to the gym through the gym doors. It wouldn't prevent a Sandy Hook but it nevertheless would be a prudent policy to protect our children

You are so right! Unfortunately we must restrict access. Gym doors in some schools are open and unattended for HOURS at a time. They must always be locked. Adults can man the door during morning entry, after that everyone must use the main doors. Doorbells can be installed for before/after school programs; doorbells that must be manually opened by an adult.

Another issue is droves of parents walking in with kids in the morning, or slipping in afternoons and walking about the buildings. No more. We cannot give unrestricted access to anyone. This is sad, but true.

A prudent policy to protect our children would be to allow us to protect them. Instead we pretend by making rules & policies that a madman like this will just ignore. Very sad that being PC is more important than being realistic.

Promoting vigilantism is not the answer. A madman may ignore the rules but we should make it harder for him to get his hands on these kinds of weapons. No one outside of the military needs the capability to fire 100 bullets at the same time.

Simpleton It was because of legally purchased guns that this happened..ALL GUNS SHOULD BE OUTLAWED..
REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT..Anyone that disagrees is a wacko.
