Oluchukwu Onuora, expected to graduate this spring from Cornell University, was killed about 4 a.m. while walking along Route 96, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department. Onuora was pronounced dead at Cayuga Medical Center. No funeral arrangements have been announced.

Classmates at Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences fondly remembered Onuora, according to this story in The Cornell Sun.

Onuora was born in Nigeria, and his family immigrated to the United States when he was a child. He grew up in West Harrison. He transferred to Cornell in the fall of 2012 after attending Morgan Community College.

“He was a ball of light in everyone’s life,” Jordan Harrison told The Cornell Sun. “Olu was one of those people when anyone was visibly having a bad day, he would make a valiant effort to smile at you and to pick you up when you were down.”
