According to village officials, merchants may park at the long-term meters on Meadow Avenue, near the school, if no spaces are available.
Merchants with a basic merchant permit must feed the meter as usual, although those with a buyout permit do not need to do so. The 12-hour meters run 50 cents per hour on weekdays and one dollar per hour on weekends.
Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin said the drainage improvement project was paid for in large part through a state grant. The rest will be funded by the village.
The project is intended to improve the village's water quality.
“The village was fortunate to recently receive another flood mitigation grant for the Garden Avenue parking lot,” she said.
“French drains and plant islands will be added to improve drainage on what is now a 100 percent impermeable surface,” she said.
Other planned improvements include under pavement water storage chambers and permeable pavement. They are intended to capture and treat storm water runoff, reducing the risk of flooding, which has been a problem during recent hurricanes.
These projects will coincide with construction on the Kensington Road development, which will reduce parking further.
