WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The calendar may read spring, but after portions of Westchester experienced hail, snow showers and snow flurries on Thursday, late April feels more like winter.

The wintry blast will return overnight into Saturday with wind-chills in the mid 20s, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a freeze warning for Westchester County from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday morning. The warning has been updated from a freeze watch that had been in effect.

The potentially sub-freezing temperatures could damage or kill seasonal and sensitive plants that are left uncovered.

Below-average temperatures will continue on Sunday with a high near 58, but wind chills will make it feel closer to mid-30s.

Sun will linger in the area for a while, but temperatures won't make it to the mid-60s until the middle of the week.
