TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- The Fountains at RiverVue recently received certification by the state of New York to offer “enhanced assisted living.”
“This is great news not just for our residents, but also for everyone concerned about quality of life for seniors in the Eastchester/Tuckahoe area,” said David Goldsmith, executive director.
“This new certification means that New York State will allow our residents to continue to live among their friends and neighbors here instead of having to move out to seek additional care if and when that day comes.”
According to the state’s website, residents of a certified Enhanced Assisted Living Residence (EALR) do not have to move out just because they need help to walk, transfer, use the stairs or operate medical equipment. They are permitted to receive these and other additional nursing services while remaining in their own apartment.
“We’re the same established and dedicated senior living community that we’ve been since opening our doors in 2001 and we’re delighted for this new opportunity to provide our professional services to residents needing higher levels of care,” Goldsmith said.
The Fountains at RiverVue is also certified as a Special Needs Assisted Living Residence (SNALR), which allows the community to provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia in a secure residential setting.
In addition to this special designation, The Fountains at RiverVue has provided supplemental training to individual associates working with this population, resulting in their recognition as certified dementia practitioners.
Earlier this year, The Fountains at RiverVue was selected as a "Caring Star" of 2014, as part of an annual nationwide program honoring service excellence based on consumer ratings and reviews posted on Caring.com, the leading senior care website.
