Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin

Five questions we recently posed to Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin:

Q: Any vacation plans?

"I am going to Chicago for a week for a mini-reunion with my college roommates," said Marvin, a Wellesley graduate.

Q: What are you reading?

" I am reading a book by Willa Cather. It's about a man who from Nebraska who goes off to World War I. I have a book club with friends and it is our summer reading project. We will meet to discuss it in Sepetember."

Q: What is the question you get asked the most as mayor?

"Well there are two, taxes and parking."

Q: What is one your favorite things about being mayor?

"I love our Memorial Day celebration. It is my favorite day of the year here. There is something for everyone in all of our celebrations and it brings out the best in all of us as individuals and as a community."

Q: It's hard to drive through the village and not notice some of the empty storefronts. Is the village doing anything to remedy this?

"We have offered landlords our help in making it as easy as possible for new businesses to move into town, if there is an approval that is needed from the village. We have also offered to sit down with business owners who are considering coming to our village and provide them with demographics, and address any concerns they may have."
