BRONXVILLE, N. Y. - There was a dogfight at Bronxville Village Hall and Mayor Mary Marvin was not the victor.
The mayor's long-haired dachshund, Maverick was ousted due to alleged reports of politically incorrect behavior.
The talk around village hall is that the dog bit an employee. Replacing Maverick as the top dog is Dudley Poorman. Dudley, a standard poodle is nice to everyone, even visiting second graders.
The newly installed top dog now has his own water dish and special treats at Village Hall. Maverick is only allowed to go to Village Hall on the weekends when no one else is there.
Dudley's owner, trustee Anne Poorman said that Dudley, who is 11, visits Village Hall almost daily. "He is available for special engagements, but does not appear at any function that includes thunder or a 21 gun salute such as Memorial Day," Poorman said.
Will Dudley remain top dog in Bronxville? Poorman predicts that there will be opposition from a certain long-haired dachshund.
Mayor Marvin had no comment.
