Damaged Gas Line Causes Evacuation in Tuckahoe

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – An apartment building in the village had to be evacutated earlier this week. Tuckahoe Police said a four story building located at 240 Alpine Place and Fisher Avenue was evacuated Tueasday by the Eastchester Fire Department after a construction worker just outside the building hit a gas line with a jack hammer.

Lt. Ray Stabile said that Con Edison responded to the scene and shut the gas line down. Stabile said after running some tests, the fire department allowed residents to return to their homes.
