Concordia's Oakley Named To Capital One Academic All-District Soccer Team

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Concordia College sophomore Ovan Oakley has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team within the NCAA Division II East Region, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced.

The recognition goes to the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011. Oakley was selected to the team for the first time in his college career. He currently leads the Clippers and is second overall in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with 13 goals this season. Within the CACC he is also second in total points and shots while in NCAA Division II he ranks 4th in points per game and goals per game.

Oakley has helped propel Concordia into its second straight CACC Championship Tournament appearance while leading the team to a regional ranking of fourth/ The team received votes in a national poll for first time since 1999 earlier this season.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later in November.
