Con Edison will be upgrading gas main services on Midland Avenue beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the intersection of Winter Hill Road and continuing onto Avon Road in Tuckahoe.
Crews will be working in the area from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday until construction is complete. The project is expected to last between eight and 10 weeks.
Police said that during the project, there will be lane closures and possible road closures associated with the work. Street parking may also be limited. Additionally, materials and equipment may be required to be stored along the side of the road while crews work.
According to the Tuckahoe Police Department, crews may be required to excavate parts of residents’ driveways or lawns. Anyone with private underground facilities such as sprinkler lines or electric dog fences have been instructed to alert police before the work starts.
“Gas service will be interrupted as we transfer from the old gas main to the newly installed gas main and arrangements will be made with all of our gas service customers to minimize impact. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
