The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball team dropped a 72-61 decision to Notre Dame (Ohio) in the opening game of the 47th Annual East Stroudsburg Classic Saturday in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
The Clippers (1-4) stayed with Notre Dame and were tied 26-26 but the Falcons made a 17-6 and ran to a 43-32 halftime lead.
Concordia recovered early in the second half and cut the deficit to single digits with an 11-3 run of its own and were down just seven with 7:20 remaining in the game.
First-year forward Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) led Concordia with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, while adding three assists and two rebounds. Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds and her fourth straight double-double.
The Clippers conclude the East Stroudsburg Classic against host East Stroudsburg University at 5 p.m. The game can be viewed via Live Stats under the women's schedule page on ConcordiaClippers.com.
