BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Lee Gitter-Cruz is hoping the spirit of the holiday season will lead people to buy some spirits for the season.
Gitter-Cruz owns and operates The Wine Emporium on Pondfield Road, where you can find bottles of wine that run from less than $10 to more than $300. But it is the sparkling California wine Villa Jolada that Gitter-Cruz said is selling like hot cakes.
"Everyone is asking for it," said Gitter-Cruz. "It's a proseco spumanti and it is great."
Gitter-Cruz said the California wines, both red and white, are very popular for the holiday season. One of the favorites is the Hillside Select wines from Shafer Vineyards in California, Gitter-Cruz said.
"Another favorite is Hartford Court from Four Hearts Vineyards, which is Mayor Bloomberg's house wine," Gitter- Cruz said, referring to New York's Michael Bloomberg.
The Wine Emporium also offers hostess gifts.
"We have box sets and all kinds of great wines in all price ranges," Gitter-Cruz said.
