Bronxville Teens Charged With Underage Drinking

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Five teens - including two from Bronxville - were detained and cited by police at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday night for underage and public drinking of alcohol.

Police said the five teens ranging in age from 15 to 19 were observed drinking alcohol on Masterton Road and Prescott Avenue. Except for the 15 year old, who is a juvenile, each was cited for unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage and unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage with intent to consume by persons under age 21.

Bronxville Police Sgt. Steve Gallo said officers encountered several groups of young people carrying cans of beer, some closed and some open and partially consumed, and were able to detain the five, including three from Bronxville, one from New Jersey and one from Long Island. All are due in village court on Feb. 15.

The village's license plate reader led to a citation issued to Sandra James-Bonner on Tuesday night at 7:54 p.m. Police said James-Bonner, 53, of Long Island, was cited for driving with a suspended registration due to multiple unpaid parking tickets, according to police. Her vehicle was impounded and she is due back in village court on Feb. 15.

Last Tuesday, the license plate reader alerted police who detained Marissa Aversano, 19, of Eastchester for driving with a suspended license due to a lack of insurance, police said. Police impounded Aversano's vehicle at approximately 9:30 on Feb. 2 and she is due back in court on Feb. 15

Also on Feb. 2, at 9:54 a.m. Damien Young, 32 of the Bronx, surrendered himself to Bronxville Police in response to a bench warrant. Young failed to make a recent court appearance stemming from a March 2011 arrest for driving with a suspended license and vehicle registration, police said. Young was released after paying $470 to the village in fines.
