Bronxville Residents Prepare For Yom Kippur

BRONXVILLE N.Y. – People of the Jewish faith in Bronxville and throughout Westchester are getting ready to celebrate the holy day of Yom Kippur.

Yom Kippur is a time when the Jewish people review their past year, acknowledge any imperfections and think about how they will improve in the year to come, said Gary Katz, executive director of Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El. The holiday includes a daylong fast to make it a more meaningful experience, he said.

“Tonight’s service for Yom Kippur is expected to draw a crowd upwards of 800 people,” said Katz. “We expect Jewish residents from all over Westchester, including Scarsdale, Eastchester and Bronxville.”

Scarsdale Synagogue is located at 2 Ogden Road in Scarsdale, and Tuesday night’s service will begin at 8.
