A large number of Bronxville residents have been coming in over the past few days to send out their mail before the storm hits, said post office employee Kathy Valentine.

"It was really crowded earlier this morning from about 9 to 10, but has since died down," said Valentine. "Everyone has been trying to get their items express mailed, but who knows how things will go out if things get really bad."

Scott Canning was one of the many Bronxville residents who arrived at the post office right before it closed.

"My postman told me that the office was closing early today so I went out of my way to make sure I got here," said Canning. "Today has been a very busy day for me from sandbagging my house to buying a backup gas-powered generator. I don't think I'll lose power, but at least I got my mail in."

When the mail will be picked up, and whether the post office will be open Tuesday is uncertain at this time, said Valentine.

"We hope to have somebody come in late tonight, but if not early tomorrow," said Valentine. "We haven't been told anything yet, it's all very last minute with storms like this. I'm going to plan on being here 8 a.m. unless I'm told otherwise, so now all I can do is wait."
