Bronxville Library's New Director Seeking You Out

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – For the past 10 years Gabriella Radujko has worked her way through the New Jersey library system, but earlier this summer she took the reins at the Bronxville Public Library.

As the library’s new director she’s looking forward to getting to know the people of Bronxville. “I’m excited about the opportunity to create a library that best reflects this community,” she said. “Our goal is to create a library that is based on needs of the people we serve.”

Radujko says that she’s been walking through the library everyday talking to residents and learning about what they are looking for. “I’m seeking people out and I enjoy hearing their stories,” she said. “So far the feedback has been great and the people in Bronxville are so nice.”

Bronxville Library, a member of the Westchester Library System, offers digital books for e-book readers and other devices and expects to offer even more of them in the future.

“One individual library can’t deliver all those needs,” Radujko said. “So for us technology is great. Libraries have always adapted. We’ve gone from books on tape to books on CD and we'll always continue incorporate technology into what we do."

While libraries throughout the county and state have reported lower number of users in recent years, Bronxville Library is buzzing everyday. “I don’t know why that is, maybe we’re just cooler in more ways than one,” Radujko said jokingly.
