Bronxville Kicks Off Summer With Sidewalk Sale, Fair

Update, Friday 4:20 p.m. - The event has been canceled for Saturday because of weather.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Looking for a way to spend these upcoming sunny days? The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce is hosting one of Westchester County's first sidewalk sales of the season.

On Friday and Saturday, the streets of Bronxville will be filled with sidewalk sale bargains, between 50 and 80 percent off. On Saturday, a street fair will hit the village, adding ambiance to the outdoor sale, with entertainment, live music, raffles, crafts, face painting, fake tattoos, sidewalk chalk and several other events for children. The event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

"It's a fun, family event," said Susan Miele, director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. "There are a lot of things for kids, and, of course, bargains for all ages. There is something for the whole family."

The merchants will set up tables outside their storefronts, offering the community "really significant bargains," Miele said.

"The discounts that will be offered throughout the village will be phenomenal," she said. "Some stores are going as high as 80 percent off. Some stores are also bringing in merchandise from their other stores. So the offerings will be expansive in addition to discounted."

The sidewalk sale will start on Pondfield Road and spill out onto Kraft Avenue, Cedar Street, Palmer Avenue, Parkway Road and Park Place.

"This isn't just for Bronxville," Miele said. "It's for everybody. These aren't high-ticket items. They are going to be very affordable. You can certainly come for lunch. And there's free entertainment and free children's stuff. You can just come and enjoy yourself for a few dollars."
