BRONXVILLE, N.Y. Feeling the added expense at the pump in Bronxville these days? Youre not the only one. With the national average jumping 17 cents in July, residents said theyre feeling it.
This isnt a surprise I think it happens every year around this time, James Hurley of Bronxville said. People are traveling a lot more at this time of the year, planning their summer vacations, and boom, they get hit with a gas price increase.
The best bargain in Bronxville right now is the Getty Station on Bronx River Road, selling regular at $3.95 a gallon and premium gas at $4.11. The Mobile on New Rochelle Road is selling regular at $3.97 with the Sunoco across the street at $3.99 for regular. Bronxvilles gas prices are 45 cents over the national average of $3.50.
I do drive around for the best price even if its a fraction cheaper, said Anna Lacotelli of Bronxville. Even a fraction of a cent cheaper helps at this point. Im just glad school isnt in session, otherwise Id be driving my kids all over town spending more on gas.
Gas prices have also deterred Bronxville residents from traveling outside of the village for vacation. This summer were staying home, Max Tullander said while filling up his 2010 Infiniti. Theres plenty to do around our town without the need to plan a long trip somewhere. Im more than happy staying up and enjoying my pool.
